The Story Behind “She Speaks” Supper Club

By Jessie Wales

How a networking night out (and a couple of spicy margaritas) turned into something much more
meaningful

So… I did a thing.

Running my own agency with an incredible team and amazing clients is already more than I ever could have imagined. It’s busy, it’s creative, it’s full-on, and I absolutely love it. But every now and then, something taps you on the shoulder and whispers, “There’s something else you need to do.”

For me, the whisper came on a night out with my friend Amy Rollings, fuelled by good chat and a couple of spicy margaritas. We started talking about how hard it can be to find genuine connection as a woman in business.

How often we have to travel into London to meet likeminded creatives, founders, freelancers, and generally other women.

How rare it is to find spaces where women can just show up as they are, and be seen, heard, and uplifted.

That’s when the idea sparked:

What if I created that community myself?

Every now and then,
something taps you on the
shoulder and whispers,
“There’s something else you
need to do.”

The next morning, still riding the high of the idea, I sat down and wrote it all out. Within hours, there was a name, a logo, and a sense of purpose that felt so right it gave me goosebumps.

“She Speaks” Supper Club was born from a desire to bring brilliant women together, not for stiff networking or surface-level small talk, but for real, meaningful connection. It’s a female-only supper club based in Surrey, where the conversation flows as freely as the wine, and every seat at the table is an invitation to connect, reflect, and be inspired.

Each event is a chance to: Share stories and experiences Explore the highs and the hard bits Hear from amazing guest speakers And of course, enjoy some incredible food t’s about gathering around a table, without pressure, pretence, or performance.

Talking about what matters. Leaving feeling a little more grounded, seen, and supported. At its heart, “She Speaks” is a community. One that I hope grows into something bigger than me, something that lives and breathes through the women who show up, speak up, and lift each other.

I want every woman who walks through the door to feel like she belongs. Whether you’re a founder, a freelancer, a mum navigating the juggle, or just someone who’s craving connection, there’s a seat at the table for you.

This is just the beginning. And I can’t wait to see where it goes. If you’re curious, come join us.
